Cavai Integration Feasibility
Can Cavai interactive ads run in Spond?
Short answer: Not today — requires development work from Spond's side.
Why It Doesn't Work Out of the Box
Spond's current ad placements are native/built into the app. There are no open ad slots that accept external HTML/JS tags. This means you can't just deliver a Cavai tag and have it render.
What Spond Would Need to Build
A WebView or iframe-based ad container in their app that can load external URLs or render third-party HTML/JS creative. This is:
- A relatively standard integration (WebView is built into both iOS and Android)
- A small-to-medium development effort from their side
- A one-time investment that would unlock all future rich media/interactive ad formats
Integration Options
Option A: WebView Ad Container (Recommended)
Spond adds a WebView component in their ad slots. Cavai delivers a tag URL. Spond loads the URL in the WebView.
- Pros: Full flexibility, creative can be updated without app releases, supports all Cavai formats
- Cons: Requires Spond dev work, WebView performance considerations on older devices
Option B: Embedded HTML/JS
Cavai delivers HTML/JS bundle that Spond embeds directly in the app.
- Pros: No external loading, faster initial render
- Cons: Requires app update to change creative, less flexible, version management overhead
Option C: SDK Integration
Cavai provides a lightweight SDK that Spond integrates.
- Pros: Best performance, native feel, analytics built in
- Cons: Largest dev effort, ongoing maintenance
Best Placement for Cavai
The Splash Screen format is the most natural fit:
- Full-screen real estate
- Daily frequency (first app open)
- High attention moment
- Perfect for interactive/rich media
Analogy
This is essentially a retail media play. Spond owns the platform, the user data, and the ad experience — similar to how retailers (e.g. Coop, Rema) control their own ad inventory. Cavai would be a technology/creative partner, not buying through a DSP.
